OM SYSTEM has recently refreshed its audio product lineup, introducing new models that replace existing ones while retaining the high standards in hardware that the Olympus Audio brand was known for. The focus of these new products is not just on hardware but also on the advanced software that accompanies or is compatible with them. Additionally, we’ll provide a comprehensive list of hardware compatibility for ODMS R8 and ODMS Cloud.


DS-2700 Replaces DS-2600

Hardware Overview:

  • Reliable Design: The DS-2700 carries forward the dependable build quality of the DS-2600, ensuring continued durability and ease of use. The hardware, including the high-quality stereo microphones and controls, remains consistent, ensuring reliable performance.
  • Proven Audio Quality: The DS-2700 offers the same high-fidelity audio capture as its predecessor, making it a trusted choice for clear and precise personal and meeting recording.

Software Enhancements:

  • ODMS R8 Dictation Module: The DS-2700 now includes the ODMS R8 Dictation module, which offers enhanced voice capture accuracy, improved speech recognition, and more advanced file management capabilities.  The DS-2600 previously included DSS Player.

Why ODMS R8 is better than DSS Player:

  • Third Party Speech Recognition Integration: ODMS R8 includes the option to integrate with third party speech recognition software ensuring more accuracy and efficiency. 
  • Enhanced Workflow Automation: The ODMS R8 software introduces improved workflow automation, allowing users to streamline the process from recording to final documentation.
  • User-Friendly Interface: ODMS R8 features a more intuitive and user-friendly interface, making it easier to manage settings and send dictation files to your transcriptionists.

AS-2700 Replaces AS-2400

Hardware Overview:

  • Ergonomic Design: The AS-2700 continues to offer the ergonomic design and reliable performance of the AS-2400. The included footswitch and headphones are easy to use and durable, ensuring comfortable use over extended periods of time.
  • Consistent Performance: The transcription hardware remains unchanged, offering the same dependable quality that transcriptionists have come to rely on.

Software Enhancements:

  • ODMS R8 Transcription Module: The AS-2700 now includes the ODMS R8 Transcription module, which offers enhanced tools for more efficient and accurate transcription, including customizable footswitch controls, decryption of protected audio files and refined audio playback options.  Previously the AS-2400 included DSS Player.

Why ODMS R8 better than DSS Player:

  • Customizable Footswitch Controls: The new software allows users to tailor footswitch settings to their specific needs, enhancing efficiency during transcription.
  • Improved Audio Playback: ODMS R8’s improved audio playback features make it easier to hear and transcribe recordings accurately, especially in difficult audio environments.
  • Streamlined File Management: The software’s robust file management system helps transcriptionists organize and access files more easily, improving workflow efficiency.

DS-9100 Replaces DS-9000

Hardware Overview:

  • Premium Build Quality: The DS-9100 maintains the same durable and high-quality build as the DS-9000, with a focus on reliability in demanding professional environments.
  • High-Fidelity Audio: The hardware continues to deliver excellent noise cancelling audio capture, ensuring that all recordings are captured clearly and accurately.

Software Enhancements:

  • ODMS Cloud Integration: The DS-9100 includes a 12-month subscription licence for ODMS Cloud, enabling cloud-based dictation management. This allows users to securely store, access, and manage their recordings from any location with an internet connection.  In addition, the licence give you access to the ODMS Cloud Dictation app.

Why ODMS Cloud is different to ODMS R7:

  • Cloud-Based Access: ODMS Cloud allows for flexible, secure access to dictation files from multiple devices, improving mobility and efficiency.  Whether you are using a PC or MAC.  Whereas ODMS R7 was an on-premise system and only available for Windows PC.
  • Enhanced Security: The cloud service includes advanced encryption and security features, ensuring that sensitive information is protected during storage and transmission.
  • Remote Work Capabilities: With ODMS Cloud, users can work remotely while maintaining full access to their dictation files, making it ideal for modern, mobile professionals.

RM-4010N and RM-4110N Replace Earlier Models

Hardware Overview:

  • Noise Cancellation: These models maintain the same advanced noise cancellation capabilities, ideal for capturing clear audio in environments with background noise.
  • Polygiene Coating: Featuring a unique anti-bacterial/ antimicrobial Polygiene coating that can also be easily cleaned with alcohol or ethanol.  Ensuring a hygienic and safe user experience.

Software Compatibility:

  • Third-Party Software Integration: These models are compatible with third-party speech recognition software and patient record management systems, making them versatile tools for professionals in various fields.
  • ODMS R8 Dictation Module Compatibility: While the RM-4010N and RM-4110N do not come with the software included, they are fully compatible with the ODMS R8 Dictation module. This allows users to integrate these devices seamlessly into existing workflows that utilize ODMS R8.
